The best of Peru
|
Peru is the land of the Incas and many other ancient civilizations. Peru has maintained traditions that go back more than 10 thousand years and can still be witnessed throughout the entire country. Moreover, due to its unrivaled range of geographical zones, it offers an incredible sample of our planet´s biodiversity in its national natural reserves.
|
Peru stores more than 100,000 archeological sites, several of which have been declared World Heritage Sites by the Unesco. The most famous ones are the Inca city of Machu Picchu in Cusco, and the mysterious Nazca Lines in the south of Peru, but no less impressive are the Keulap Fortress in Chachapoyas, Chan Chan in Trujillo or Caral, close to Lima.
But, not to forget, Peru has another major attraction, that gives all the other places an extra value: the warmth and friendlyness of its people, who receive travellers with gentleness and who are proud of their legacy and want to share the richness nature has bestowed upon them, their traditions and its delicious traditional food, like ceviche or its national drink, Pisco.
Traditional festivals are abundant in Peru. All year round Peruvians dress up colorfully to dance or to integrate ancient rituals in modern life. Their enthousiasm is contagious and persuades many visitors to participate with fervor.
